John McInsane? Bah! Humbug!!!

10-31-2008
By Daddy.

John McInsane has no respect for the people of the United States. No respect at all.

If he did, he would have never tried to convince us that HE is the one that can make a change from old Washington politics. Instead he has cemented the fact that there is very little difference between George Bush, and himself.

Lying to the people that Obama has no plan to dig the country out of the economic bullshit we’re in, all the while trying to sooth our aching minds with trivial shyt that he, and only he can move us out of this mess, and into a better economy. That he and only he can find and KILL Osama Ben Laden.

DUH! Senator McInsane! You’re part of the problem that got us here!!!!!!
After all of the facts, and all of the video with John McInsane stating that he voted with Bush 95% of the time, and damn, “I did everything I could to get him elected”, does he really expect to change the minds of those folks who aren’t quite sure about Barack Obama?

And now the Rethuglican’s are bringing “The Best of Rev. Wright Show” to town again.
Isn’t it funny how every McInsane ad is an attack not only on the issues, but a character assassination on Barack Obama? Take for instance:

CONCORD, N.C. – Republican presidential candidate John McCain on Saturday accused Democratic rival Barack Obama of favoring a socialistic economic approach by supporting tax cuts and tax credits.

"Senator Obama said he wants to quote 'spread the wealth.' What that means is he wants government to take your money and dole it out however a politician sees fit," Palin said, drawing boos from the crowd of several thousand. "Friends, now is no time to experiment with socialism”.

And the people for McInsane are even worse. Take for instance:

National Review Online, disclosing the “news” that Bill Ayers wrote “Dreams from My Father”.
Obama was involved in domestic terrorism during the South Africa divestment campaign of the early 1980s,

Michelle Obama used the word “whitey” in recorded conversation with Louis Farrakhan,

Obama has had a female lover as well as a gay lover with a criminal record,

Obama was fed answers during the first debate via a clear plastic device in his ear,

Obama’s birth certificate was forged, casting doubt on his citizenship (which is why he’s now in Hawaii—to preserve the cover-up, not to visit his very ill grandmother).

Obama is an Arab.

Obama is a Muslim

Obama hate Jews.

I want to hear what McInsane has to say on the issues. Not only that he can get it done, but tell us how you plan to get it done. Obama has been pretty straight forward on his plans and does not back down when those plans are criticized by the MSM. On the other hand McInsane changes his position every other day.

NEW YORK, Oct. 15 (UPI) -- Recent attack ads aired by John McCain against Barack Obama seemed to have backfired, results from a New York Times-CBS News poll indicate.
Results released Wednesday indicate more voters see McCain as waging a negative campaign than Obama. Six in 10 voters said McCain spent more time assaulting Obama than discussing the issues.

If the election were now, 53 percent of those polled indicated they would vote for Obama and 39 of the identified probable voters said they would vote for McCain.
The top reasons why they thought less of McCain include his recent attacks on Obama and his choice of Alaska Gov.
Sarah Palin as his running mate, respondents said.

I really liked the Obama-mercial. The production of the spot was, well what can I say, perfect. The perfect families were picked for the stories (and I’m sure these are not Joe the Plumber types). But through all of the production the one thing that hit me most was that Barack Obama did not mention John McInsane or Caribou Barbie. Most impressive Senator Obama. Most impressive indeed! No attacks on McInsane’s character. No lies about his acquaintances. No mugging his religion. Nope none of that at all, just plain old straight talk. The issues that are important to the people.

Well ladies and gentlemen, November 4th is four days away. If you haven’t voted yet, today is the last day for early voting here in the Mile High City. I have already cast my vote for Barack Obama, and I’m hoping you all will too.

But I must say that you have to vote for your best choice. Again, what makes this a great country is that we the people can cast our vote for whom we please. We can make up our own minds. But none the less I hope you’ll vote for Barack Obama. With Obama we surely can.

You all have a great and blessed weekend. PEACE!

Daddy.

Daughter of slave votes for Obama

109-year-old Bastrop woman casts her vote by mail.

I want to thank my brother Lareezy for getting this to out. Right on my brother!

By Joshunda SandersAMERICAN-STATESMAN STAFF Monday, October 27, 2008

Amanda Jones, 109, the daughter of a man born into slavery, has lived a life long enough to touch three centuries. And after voting consistently as a Democrat for 70 years, she has voted early for the country's first black presidential nominee.

The middle child of 13, Jones, who is African American, is part of a family that has lived in Bastrop County for five generations. The family has remained a fixture in Cedar Creek and other parts of the county, even when its members had to eat at segregated barbecue dives and walk through the back door while white customers walked through the front, said Amanda Jones' 68-year-old daughter, Joyce Jones.

For at least a decade, Amanda Jones worked as a maid for $20 a month, Joyce Jones said. She was a housewife for 72 years and helped her now-deceased husband, C.L. Jones, manage a store.

Amanda Jones, a delicate, thin woman wearing golden-rimmed glasses, giggled as the family discussed this year's presidential election. She is too weak to go the polls, so two of her 10 children — Eloise Baker, 75, and Joyce Jones — helped her fill out a mail-in ballot for Barack Obama, Baker said. "I feel good about voting for him," Amanda Jones said.

Jones' father herded sheep as a slave until he was 12, according to the family, and once he was freed, he was a farmer who raised cows, hogs and turkeys on land he owned. Her mother was born right after the Emancipation Proclamation was signed, Joyce Jones said. The family owned more than 100 acres of land in Cedar Creek at one point, she said.

Amanda Jones' father urged her to exercise her right to vote, despite discriminatory practices at the polls and poll taxes meant to keep black and poor people from voting. Those practices were outlawed for federal elections with the 24th Amendment in 1964, but not for state and local races in Texas until 1966.

Amanda Jones says she cast her first presidential vote for Franklin Roosevelt, but she doesn't recall which of his four terms that was. When she did vote, she paid a poll tax, her daughters said. That she is able, for the first time, to vote for a black presidential nominee for free fills her with joy, Jones said.

One of Amanda Jones' 33 grandchildren, Brenda Baker, 44, said the family is moved by the election's significance to the matriarch.

"It's awesome to me that we have such a pillar of our family still with us," Baker said. "It's awesome to see what she's done, and all her hard work, and to see that she may be able to see the results of all that hard work" if Obama is elected, she said.

Jones lives in a small gray house with white trim just off Texas 21. These days, a curious white kitten and a sleepy old black dog guard the house. Inside are photographs and relics of a long, full life, including a letter from then-Gov. George Bush in 1998 commemorating her 100th birthday. A black-and-white picture of her in a long flapper-style dress was taken between 1912 and 1918 — no one can remember the exact year, Baker said with a chuckle. Jones is part of a small percentage of active voters above the age of 100 in the state — and the country.

Sister Cecilia Gaudette, a 106-year-old nun born in New Hampshire but living in Rome, made recent national headlines as the nation's oldest voter. But if Texas records are any indication, that's hard to validate.

Secretary of State spokeswoman Ashley Burton said Texas can't confirm whether Jones is the state's oldest active voter because there is too much voter information to sort through. At the county level, there are other challenges. An election official in Hays County said its records are not searchable by age, and Bastrop County elections administrator Nora Cano said that some counties automatically list voters who were born before the turn of the 20th century with birth dates of January 1900.

The oldest active voter in Travis County is 105, officials said, and in Williamson County the oldest is 106 — making Jones the oldest-known active voter in Central Texas.

Making it to see the election results on Nov. 5 is important, but Jones is resting up for another milestone: her 110th birthday in December. "God has been good to me," she said.

Why Obama strikes a global chord

UPDATED ON:Sunday, October 26, 2008 06:34 Mecca time, 03:34 GMT

News Americas
By Barnaby Phillips in Athens

In Athens' Hard Rock Cafe, just around the corner from my flat, hundreds of Americans of all political persuasions turned up to see the McCain-Obama debate on a giant screen.

Even the US ambassador showed up. I was there too, not an American, (albeit married to one), just one of millions of foreigners caught up in the excitement of this election.

And let me start with a confident assertion; the overwhelming majority of non-Americans who follow international events will be cheering for an Obama victory on November 4. If you doubt this, take a look at the global election being conducted on the website of the Economist magazine.

Readers from across the world are asked for their preference. So far, only two (rather small) countries lean towards John McCain; Georgia and Macedonia.

That Georgia favours McCain is probably because of his tough anti-Russian position, and Macedonia, I assume, is doing so because of a (perhaps mistaken) belief that Obama would support Greece in the dispute between the Balkan neighbours.

Missing the message?

In every other country in the world that has registered enough votes, Economist readers (not radicals by inclination) give Obama a landslide victory.

In several African countries, 100 per cent of votes go to Obama. Sure, it's not scientific, but it's indicative of how the world feels.

There have been similar polls in recent months, carried out by the BBC (in 22 countries) and Reader's Digest (in 17 countries), and they also show massive majorities for the Democratic candidate.

In part, this is because many foreigners just do not get large parts of the Republican party's message.

Talk of abortion, gun rights and patriotism may win elections in America, but it leaves outsiders indifferent, or, (especially in Europe), it turns them cold. The more the Republican Party tries to make this an election about "values" and "culture wars", the more it repels foreigners.

Sarah Palin, the Republican vice-presidential nominee, attracts crowds, and voters, in the heartland with her patriotic talk and folksy style, but abroad people are concerned about her lack of knowledge of the outside world.

But there are also more specific reasons why, in 2008, the world is leaning so heavily towards Obama.

McCain Funded Work of Palestinian His Campaign Hopes to Tie to Obama

October 28, 2008 04:34 PM
By Daddy.

Are you as ready as I am to see November 5th?
I am truly worn out from the last two years of politicking. I’m most tired of the lies.

Now I know that politicians stretch the truth. I don’t think that’s a big secret. But my problem with the McInsane people are the downright character busting lies.

First they show a picture of Barack Obama in his native dress, and immediately he’s part of Al Qaeda. Then he’s a terrorist because of his relationship with a professor at the University of Illinois. And lately he’s been called a Socialist/Communist because he wants to get the tax thing back to where it was during Bill Clintons’ years as president.

The Redistributor in Chief is how McInsane and Caribou Barbie put it. But the biggest surprise in this is that these folks at their rallies believe this bullshit.

"See, under a big government, more tax agenda, what you thought was yours would really start belonging to somebody else, to everybody else. If you thought your income, your property, your inventory, your investments were, were yours, they would really collectively belong to everybody. Obama, Barack Obama has an ideological commitment to higher taxes, and I say this based on his record... Higher taxes, more government, misusing the power to tax leads to government moving into the role of some believing that government then has to take care of us. And government kind of moving into the role as the other half of our family, making decisions for us. Now, they do this in other countries where the people are not free. (Sarah Palin..Des Moines Iowa 10-25-08).

See what I mean. Now what I get out of Obama’s plan is that:
“IF YOU MAKE MORE THAN $250,000 PER YEAR YOUR TAXES WILL GO UP”! “95% OF AMERICANS WILL GET A TAX BREAK”!

Now what the hell is so hard to understand about that? They also want you to know that Barack Obama will be taking money from hard working Americans (White folks) to give to people that don’t have an income (Black, and Hispanic Folks).

Now can someone explain to me how you can get a break on taxes if you don’t file for taxes? If you don’t have a job or income, what taxes are these people filing for? They are trying to convince the Rethuglican’s that Obama will take your money, your business, your property, and your first born son, or daughter.

He’s a COMMUNIST!

I feel there should be restrictions on what can, and cannot be said during a political campaign. I mean the folks involved should at least be required to tell the truth about their opponent.

All I see are commercials from the McInsane camp that try to scare, and intimidate people into voting Rethuglican. And now they’re telling us that Barack Obama is partners not only with Bill Ayers, but Rashid Khalidi a PLO member.

Woah!... McCain Blasts Obama Khalidi-- Equates Obama's Radical Pals to Neo-Nazis!!

McCain today said, “The Los Angeles Times refuses to make that videotape public...I’m not in the business of talking about media bias…but what if there was a tape of John McCain with a neo-Nazi outfit...I think the treatment of the issue would be slightly different.”

But McCain has his own connection to Khalidi.

In 1993, McCain became
chairman of the International Republican Institute. He still chairs that respected organization.

That same year, Khalidi helped found the
Center for Palestine Research and Studies, self-described as “an independent academic research and policy analysis institution” created to meet “the need for active Palestinian scholarship on issues related to Palestine.” (Its archived website is HERE.)

Khalidi was on the board of trustees through 1999. According to tax returns the McCain-chaired IRI funded the organization Khalidi founded and served on to the tune of $448,873 in 1998 (click
HERE to see the tax return)* as first reported by Seth Couter Walls at HuffPo.

The IRI continued to give money to the CPRS after Khalidi left the group as well.

Asked to respond to this seeming contradiction, McCain-Palin spokesman Michael Goldfarb writes:
“It's long been clear that Obama and Khalidi have a close relationship--that they were frequent dinner companions. It is another in a series of questionable associations, but it is not the focus of our request that the LA Times release this tape. It's clear from the Times story that the evening featured speeches that were anti-Semitic in tone and anti-Israel in nature. As our initial statement said, 'This campaign wants to know how Barack Obama responded to that hate-speech, whether he was mingling with Ayers, who he once described as 'just a guy in my neighborhood,' and anything else that might be of interest to voters now deciding who to support in this election.'”
(Goldfarb is referring to two speakers at Khalidi's 2003 farewell party: "a young Palestinian American (who) recited a poem accusing the Israeli government of terrorism in its treatment of Palestinians and sharply criticizing U.S. support of Israel. If Palestinians cannot secure their own land, she said, 'then you will never see a day of peace,'" and another who "likened 'Zionist settlers on the West Bank' to Osama bin Laden, saying both had been 'blinded by ideology.'")
Continued Goldfarb: “Why would the media withhold information that might be damaging to a Presidential candidate? It is certainly a luxury that you and your colleagues have never afforded this campaign.”

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/10/28/mccain-funded-work-of-pal_n_138606.html

This last part is from Sean Hannity’s site on Faux News.

John McCain Funded Accused PLO Terrorist Rashid Khalidi's Organization

John McCain is the chairman of the board of International Republican Institute, and has been since 1993.
http://www.iri.org/board.aspRashid Khalidi was a founding member in 1993 of the Center for Palestine Research and Studies (CPRS)
A tax filing shows that in 1998 the John McCain-led International Republican Institute gave $448,873 to the CPRS (See grant number 5180, "West Bank: CPRS" on page 14 ) -http://204.203.220.33/EINS/521340267...8_00007739.pdf
So, there you have it. If Rashid Khalidi really is a PLO terrorist (and that is the claim made by some on this board), then John McCain has funded PLO terrorism.

Anaheim officer mistakenly kills man on his front lawn

Pastor Willie Holmes outside the home where an Anaheim police officer shot and killed Julian Alexander on his front lawn. The officer was chasing burglary suspects when he encountered Alexander.

The officer had been chasing four burglary suspects when he encountered and shot the victim, who was holding something in his hand to defend himself from possible intruders.

By Paloma Esquivel and Tony Barboza October 29, 2008

An Anaheim police officer chasing burglary suspects shot and killed an innocent 20-year-old man who heard a commotion and emerged from his house early Tuesday holding what authorities said was either a broomstick or a shower rod.The officer encountered Julian Alexander on his front lawn and shot him twice in the chest about 1:30 a.m.

This is a very tragic situation," Anaheim Police Chief John Welter said at a news conference. "Julian Alexander was innocent of anything that was going on in the neighborhood at that time."Paramedics treated Alexander at the scene in the 300 block of North Muller Street before taking him to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.Alexander's wife and mother-in-law said he went outside, believing that he heard possible intruders. The women heard two gunshots and tried to run outside but were stopped by an officer. From their window, they saw Alexander on the ground, handcuffed and bleeding.

"He was a good kid, trying to protect his house," said Michelle Mooney, his mother-in-law. "And the police, instead of asking questions, they just shot first. Somebody has to be held responsible for this."

Pontiac funeral home evicted

Saturday, October 25, 2008
Mike Martindale / The Detroit News

Caskets, urns moved to parking lot; owners had fought foreclosure, money woes for 2 years.

PONTIAC -- Operators of a Pontiac funeral home evicted on Friday have been fighting foreclosure and money problems for more than two years, according to court records.

The eviction made for a macabre sight when neighbors woke up Friday to several caskets, cremation urns and other items strewn across the House of Burns Memorial Chapel and Funeral Home parking lot.

"We have had several calls from people asking about their relatives (remains) and this has added insult to their injuries," said Robert Gerds, administrator at the Oakland County Medical Examiner's Office, where remains were sent. "One told me they were just there on Thursday making some final arrangements and no one said anything to them (about the eviction)."

The home owes $67,000 in back taxes and appeared to be operating in violation of an order from Pontiac District Judge Preston Thomas that the home stop taking bodies for embalming after July 4. State investigators are reviewing the matter to determine whether operators of the home will face criminal or civil actions, Gerds said.

Robert L. Burns, who operated the funeral home, could not be reached for comment Friday. His attorney, Kerry Phillips, declined to discuss the foreclosure.

"Sad thing is that it sounds like they knew about this months ago, and this could all have been avoided today," said Pastor Antonio Gibson, who along with parishioners of his New Experience Church helped move materials out of the funeral home Friday morning.

The eviction was especially difficult for Calvin Ball and his wife, who rushed to the facility because a relative's funeral arrangements were pending at House of Burns.
"It's horrible to think they would just put them (bodies) out in the lot," Ball said.

Palin: Obama's Tax Plans Could Mean Nightmare Communist State

10/28/2008

Sarah Palin had a few memorable moments during her campaign stop in Des Moines, Iowa, on Saturday. But the most eye-opening of them all came; it would appear, when the Alaska Governor somehow drew a connection between Barack Obama's tax policy and an encroaching, nightmarish, communist government.

The Illinois Democrat, she hysterically suggested, would, through his proposals, create a country "where the people are not free."

Obama-Biden Tax Calculator

10-28-2008

Barack Obama and Joe Biden will cut taxes for 95% of working families, and provide at least three times as much tax relief for middle class families as John McCain and Sarah Palin. The Obama/Biden plan provides $1,000 of tax relief for workers and new tax benefits to help families pay for college, childcare and save for retirement. See the video below.

Barack Obama’s economic plans do not hurt the middle class.

The Race:

Barack Obama (D) vs John McCain (R); President of the US

The Smear:

John McCain has repeatedly lied about Barack Obama’s economic plan. While McCain’s own plans make the Bush tax breaks to the wealthy even worse, he claims that an obscure budget resolution that Barack voted for would’ve raised taxes on families with incomes around $45,000. The details keep shifting on the exact amount McCain is claiming.

The Truth:

Barack Obama’s tax plans cuts taxes for the middle class and raises them only for people who make above $250,000. His plan aims to restore fairness to our system that was lost during the Presidency of George W. Bush. John McCain’s plans cuts taxes on the super-wealthy but leaves more than half of American families with no benefit whatsoever. The vote McCain keeps talking about was a budget resolution that only set broad targets and stated assumptions about current law. I didn’t raise anyone’s taxes. McCain is lying. If you believe we need to get past these types of lies and smears and reform our politics, forward this on so people know the truth.
Start fighting back against this smear by telling your friends and family
the truth.

LITTWIN: Enormous crowds easy to understate

By Mike Littwin, Rocky Mountain News (Contact)
Published October 27, 2008 at 12:05 a.m.

The crowd that stormed downtown Denver to see Barack Obama was, according to my estimate, quite large. It was, in fact, so large that nobody could decide exactly how large it was.

But whether it was 50,000 people or 75,000 people or as many as 100,000 - the police couldn't seem to settle on just one estimate - the point is pretty much the same:

Obama may or may not turn out to be the transformational figure that, say, Colin Powell foresees, but he definitely finds himself in the midst of a wildly transformational campaign.

We're so used to seeing enormous Obama crowds that it's easy to understate their meaning. A building guard, who couldn't get to the rally because she had to work, was in tears as she watched the sea of Colorado humanity heading to Civic Center. Something, as the songwriter once wrote, is happening here.

And maybe even more telling, Obama drew the crowd almost effortlessly. Ask anyone who's ever run a political campaign how hard it is to get a crowd on the fly. This was just an open-up-the-gates-and-see-what-happens crowd, a two-days-notice crowd, a find-a-place-big-enough-to-hold-'em crowd. Obama gets 100,000 in St. Louis, 75,000 in Kansas City, 30-some thousand in Albuquerque.

DL Hugley Breaks the News.

10/27/2008

Did you get a chance to watch DL Hugley’s new show on CNN? Well I didn’t get a chance to watch in real time, so I’ve been checking out the online clips of the show.

After watching the first two clips, I thought he did an okay job. But after watching the Freddie Mac segment, it kind of went south on me. I can get the concept of injecting a bit of humor into the script, and as a Black man I understood where Freddie was coming from, but I felt it was late night comedy hour material. (I guess on the East coast it was late night DUH!) Well you know what I mean.

I won’t go as far as some folks feeling they have been set back 200 years. No I won’t go that far. But after watching the Freddie Mac piece I felt a little sick to my stomach. Something just didn’t feel right about it, even though it was the truth. I guess it was just how they came across with it that doesn’t sit well with me. Hey judge for yourself.

Well if you haven’t checked it out, here you go!

Barack Obama for President

October 24, 2008
Editorial

Hyperbole is the currency of presidential campaigns, but this year the nation’s future truly hangs in the balance.

The United States is battered and drifting after eight years of President Bush’s failed leadership. He is saddling his successor with two wars, a scarred global image and a government systematically stripped of its ability to protect and help its citizens — whether they are fleeing a hurricane’s floodwaters, searching for affordable health care or struggling to hold on to their homes, jobs, savings and pensions in the midst of a financial crisis that was foretold and preventable.

As tough as the times are, the selection of a new president is easy. After nearly two years of a grueling and ugly campaign, Senator Barack Obama of Illinois has proved that he is the right choice to be the 44th president of the United States.

Mr. Obama has met challenge after challenge, growing as a leader and putting real flesh on his early promises of hope and change. He has shown a cool head and sound judgment. We believe he has the will and the ability to forge the broad political consensus that is essential to finding solutions to this nation’s problems.

In the same time, Senator John McCain of Arizona has retreated farther and farther to the fringe of American politics, running a campaign on partisan division, class warfare and even hints of racism. His policies and worldview are mired in the past. His choice of a running mate so evidently unfit for the office was a final act of opportunism and bad judgment that eclipsed the accomplishments of 26 years in Congress.

Given the particularly ugly nature of Mr. McCain’s campaign, the urge to choose on the basis of raw emotion is strong. But there is a greater value in looking closely at the facts of life in America today and at the prescriptions the candidates offer. The differences are profound.

Mr. McCain offers more of the Republican every-man-for-himself ideology, now lying in shards on Wall Street and in Americans’ bank accounts. Mr. Obama has another vision of government’s role and responsibilities.
In his convention speech in Denver, Mr. Obama said, “Government cannot solve all our problems, but what it should do is that which we cannot do for ourselves: protect us from harm and provide every child a decent education; keep our water clean and our toys safe; invest in new schools and new roads and new science and technology.”

Since the financial crisis, he has correctly identified the abject failure of government regulation that has brought the markets to the brink of collapse.

Obama Resoles His Shoes While Palin Spends $150K

Why do citizens in 70 countries prefer Obama to McCain?

This billboard in Belgrade, Serbia states, ‘Change that we can believe in’ posted by a group called ‘Europe has no alternative’ and depicts an image of John F. Kennedy and Barack Obama. (PHOTO CREDIT: AP PHOTO)

FROM CNN’s Jack Cafferty:

Senator John McCain says when it comes to foreign policy he’s light years ahead of Barack Obama. Over and over again, McCain has insisted Obama lacks the necessary experience to conduct business with foreign countries on behalf of the United States.

So how do you explain this?

Citizens of dozens of foreign countries prefer Barack Obama over John McCain as our next president by a margin of almost 4 to 1, according to a massive poll conducted by the Gallup Organization. About 30 percent of those surveyed prefer Obama, while just 8 percent favor McCain.

This was no daily tracking poll either. Gallup polled people in 70 countries in Africa, Europe, Asia and North and South America, representing nearly half the world’s population, between May and September of this year.

Citizens of the Philippines and Georgia were the only ones who preferred McCain to Obama. Not exactly the super-powers we’re looking to mend fences with.
Here’s my question to you: Why do citizens in 70 foreign countries prefer Barack Obama to John McCain by a margin of nearly 4-1?

Interested to know which ones made it on air?

Justin from North Carolina writes: Barack Obama is the candidate of reason. Only a fool would think of supporting the ticket with the oldest presidential nominee and a woefully inept vice presidential candidate are in the best interest of America or the world especially when the current disaster of a president proves to be more coherent than the both of them.

Kevin writes: They prefer him because he’s a patsy and they know he’s going to pander to them. Kennedy was on medication during meetings with Khrushchev and Khrushchev called him a pygmy. No fear whatsoever. Good thing Kennedy did stand up to him during the Cuban missile crisis. Obama needs some testosterone shots. Putin, Chavez, the Castro’s, the Girl Scouts of China…anybody could chew him up, push him around, and spit him out.

F.S. from Rollinsford, N.H. writes: Jack, just to let you know that from my wife’s and my visit to Europe for 3 weeks just recently, we couldn’t find anyone in 4 countries that wanted McCain for President. They all think he is warmonger and that Palin is a joke. Do they know something we don’t?

Jackie writes: To be fair, I think McCain’s negativity rests with the “R” after his name. He is a decent man who, because of his age and knowing this is his last chance, sold his soul to the Republican National Committee.

Mike writes: It’s simple. It may sound racist, but it’s really not. Foreign countries are tired of old white men bossing them around and looking down on them. They finally see someone who will respect & approach them as equals.

Zach writes: Let’s see, Jack…where to begin…They don’t want to get bombed? They want to work with a well-spoken, even-keel U.S. President for a change? They’re smarter than almost half of the people in our own country?

My Thoughts for Barack Obama

10-21-08

I lost my mother and father in 1996. It was a very trying time for not only me and my sister, but for the whole family, paternal, and maternal.

Even though I had been a fully grown man for some time, the loss left me feeling lost and alone. It was a feeling of what do I do now? Of course you go on but there is still the thought of something major missing in your life.

Barack Obama may be losing his grandmother a little sooner than he expected, which is always the way in death. To the individual the loss starts as why me. That is until you have a few days to sit down and search your thoughts for the key to reopening that door that will take you back into everyday life.

It’s sad that Barack Obama will not have that “down time” to recover. He will have to buck up, and hit back to the campaign. He will have to endure the attacks now coming from all sides of McCain/Palin. He will have to put his beloved Toot in a safe place in the back of his mind to deal with at a later date.

I for one do not envy this time in Obama’s life. But the one thing I know for sure is if his grandmother doesn’t make it, that as long as brother doesn’t go postal, he will emerge from the other end of the dark to brilliant light. He will make it through this dark time because of the lessons learned from his mother, grandmother, and grandfather. They may not be with you physically, but they will always be with you in spirit. They will always be with you in those lessons learned through childhood to adolescence. They will always be with you in memories of a happy time in your life. They are entwined in that character that you carry so well.

We have seen already how he deals with pressure. And we will see in the future how he will deal with this. I have faith in the brother to come through and stand in that brilliant light of life.

I just want to say hang in there, from my family to yours, and may God bless you.

I truly hope your grandmother pulls through. It would be a great day for her to see the child she brought up become the next President of the United States of America. It WILL be a great day for her to see that. Even though it took more than 400 years, a change is gonna come. Yes, a change is gonna come and it will truly be a great day.

Please if you have the time, please send your best wishes on the Obama site. Let him know that his new family is with him one hundred percent, and we will not let him down, not now, not ever.

Double Standard Watch: Why I support Israel and Obama

Alan Dershowitz

Jerusalem Post
October 15, 2008

I am a strong supporter of Israel (though sometimes critical of specific policies). I am also a strong supporter of Barack Obama (though I favored Hillary Clinton during the primaries). I am now getting dozens of emails asking me how as a supporter of Israel I can vote for Barack Obama. Let me explain.

I think that on the important issues relating to Israel, both Senator McCain and Senator Obama score very high. During the debates each candidate has gone out of his and her way to emphasize strong support for Israel as an American ally and a bastion of democracy in a dangerous neighborhood. They have also expressed support for Israel's right to defend itself against the nuclear threat posed by Iran which has sworn to wipe Israel off the map and the need to prevent another Holocaust.

There may be some difference in nuance among the candidates, especially with regard to negotiations with Iran, but supporters of Israel should not base their voting decision on which party or which candidates support Israel more enthusiastically. In the United States, Israel is not a divisive issue, and voting for President is not a referendum on support for Israel, at least among the major parties.

I want to keep it that way. I want to make sure that support for Israel remains strong both among liberals and conservatives. It is clear that extremists on both sides of the political spectrum hate Israel, because they hate liberal democracies, because they tend to have a special place in their heart for tyrannical regimes, and because they often have strange views with regard to anything Jewish. The extreme left, as represented by Noam Chomsky, Ralph Nader, Cynthia McKinney, Norman Finkelstein and, most recently, Jimmy Carter has little good to say about the Jewish state. But nor does the extreme right, as represented by Pat Buchanan, Robert Novak, Joseph Sobran and David Duke. When it comes to Israel there is little difference between the extreme right and the extreme left. Nor is there much of a difference between the centrist political left and the centrist political right: both generally support Israel. Among Israel's strongest supporters have always been Ted Kennedy, Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi, Barney Frank, Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama. The same is true of the centrist political right, as represented by Mitt Romney, George W. Bush, Orrin Hatch and John McCain.

Really good video!

Why then do I favor Obama over McCain? First, because I support him on policies unrelated to Israel, such as the Supreme Court, women's rights, separation of church and state and the economy. But I also prefer Obama to McCain on the issue of Israel. How can I say that if I have just acknowledged that on the issues they both seem to support Israel to an equal degree? The reason is because I think it is better for Israel to have a liberal supporter in the White House than to have a conservative supporter in the oval office. Obama's views on Israel will have greater impact on young people, on Europe, on the media and on others who tend to identify with the liberal perspective. Although I believe that centrists liberals in general tend to support Israel, I acknowledge that support from the left seems to be weakening as support from the right strengthens. The election of Barack Obama - a liberal supporter of Israel - will enhance Israel's position among wavering liberals.

As I travel around university campuses both in the United States and abroad, I see radical academics trying to present Israel as the darling of the right and anathema to the left. As a liberal supporter of Israel, I try to combat that false image. Nothing could help more in this important effort to shore up liberal support for Israel than the election of a liberal president who strongly supports Israel and who is admired by liberals throughout the world. That is among the important reasons why I support Barack Obama for president.

Amazing: Obama Helped Stranded Stranger 20 Years Ago

Posted: 06 Oct 2008 09:20 PM CDT

Thanks to Becky Hudson for this story.

Oct 05, 2008 - The Norwegian newspaper VG has reported a truly amazing story about a newly-wed trying to get to Norway to be with her husband, and the stranger who helped pay an unexpected luggage surcharge. The blog "Leisha's Random Thoughts" has translated the story.

It was 1988, and Mary Andersen was at the Miami airport checking in for a long flight to Norway to be with her husband when the airline representative informed her that she wouldn't be able to check her luggage without paying a $100 surcharge: When it was finally Mary's turn, she got the message that would crush her bubbling feeling of happiness.-You'll have to pay a 103 dollar surcharge if you want to bring both those suitcases to Norway , the man behind the counter said.

Mary had no money. Her new husband had travelled ahead of her to Norway , and she had no one else to call.-I was completely desperate and tried to think which of my things I could manage without. But I had already made such a careful selection of my most prized possessions, says Mary.

As tears streamed down her face, she heard a "gentle and friendly voice" behind her saying, "That's okay, I'll pay for her."Mary turned around to see a tall man whom she had never seen before.-He had a gentle and kind voice that was still firm and decisive. The first thing I thought was, Who is this man? Although this happened 20 years ago, Mary still remembers the authority that radiated from the man. He was nicely dressed, fashionably dressed with brown leather shoes, a cotton shirt open at the throat and khaki pants, says Mary.

She was thrilled to be able to bring both her suitcases to Norway and assured the stranger that he would get his money back. The man wrote his name and address on a piece of paper that he gave to Mary. She thanked him repeatedly. When she finally walked off towards the security checkpoint, he waved goodbye to her.

Who was the man? Barack Obama.

Twenty years later, she is thrilled that the friendly stranger at the airport may be the next President and has voted for him already and donated 100 dollars to his campaign. He was my knight in shining armor, says Mary, smiling. She paid the 103 dollars back to Obama the day after she arrived in Norway . At that time he had just finished his job as a poorly paid community worker* in Chicago , and had started his law studies at prestigious Harvard university.

Mary even convinced her parents to vote for him. In the spring of 2006 Mary's parents had heard that Obama was considering a run for president, but that he had still not decided. They chose to write a letter in which they told him that he would receive their votes. At the same time, they thanked Obama for helping their daughter 18 years earlier. And Obama replied in a letter to Mary's parents dated May 4th, 2006 and stamped 'United States Senate, Washington DC '.

Barack Obama writes: 'I want to thank you for the lovely things you wrote about me and for reminding me of what happened at Miami airport. I'm happy I could help back then, and I'm delighted to hear that your daughter is happy in Norway . Please send her my best wishes. Sincerely, Barack Obama , United States Senator'.

The parents sent the letter on to Mary. Mary says that when her friends and associates talk about the election, especially when race relations is the heated subject, she relates the story of the kind man who helped out a stranger-in-need over twenty years ago, years before he had even thought about running for high office. Truly a wonderful story, and something that needs to be passed along in the maelstorm of fear-and-smear politics we are being subjected to right now.

Also, remember this was 1988, when 100 dollars was quite a bit of money, compared to today's value.By the way, this would be the perfect antidote to the Smear E-mails going around. If anyone has a good long email chain list, shoot it out, and let it be passed along.
You all have a great and blessed day. PEACE!

Daddy.
Just a note: A few commenters are paranoid that this story is some Rovian scheme, and false, and we should not believe it until it's proven true. This seems a bit ridiculous to me. First, the newspaper that broke the story has a wide readership and is a reputable source. Second, this story contains absolutely zero "blowback" risk. If this were some outrageous Palin/McCain scandal, and turned out to be untrue, then the blowback could harm those who propagated it. This story, however, is totally harmless. If it turns out to be some wild case of forgery, then who is harmed? Does it make us look bad? Not in the slightest. So calm down and enjoy something positive for once without suspecting some malicious evil plot. (The Daily Koz)

Some Conservatives See Race in Powell's Obama Endorsement

10-20-2008

Colin Powell's decision to endorse Barack Obama has sparked a mini-debate of sorts over both the significance of the endorsement itself and the role that race has and will play during this campaign.

In the immediate aftermath of his appearance on Meet The Press, several prominent GOP officials - ranging from the established to the extreme - defined the announcement more by skin color than ideology.

The most crass interpretation came from talk radio host Rush Limbaugh, who wrote the Politico's Jonathan Martin the following:

"Secretary Powell says his endorsement is not about race... OK, fine. I am now researching his past endorsements to see if I can find all the inexperienced, very liberal, white candidates he has endorsed. I'll let you know what I come up with."

Later in the day, Pat Buchanan echoed Limbaugh's refrain. "Alright, we gotta ask a question," he declared on MSNBC, "look would Colin Powell be endorsing Obama if he were a white liberal Democrat..." http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/10/19/limbaugh-george-will-powe_n_135968.htm

Well it didn’t take long for the Rethugs to turn on their whipping boy now did it?
Yep General Colin Powell stood up in front of the UN, and the world to back his boy George Bush on the war in IRAQ. General Colin Powell has been an upstanding Rethug himself all his life. And when brother has a different idea on how this country should be run, it’s all about race. Funny how this shit never made a difference as long as Black folk were voting for White men. White men that for the most part simply pandered to Blacks for their vote then turned their backs to never pursue the campaign promises they had made to us. Nope no racism there, just good old politics.

Let me ask you this. What did these people think was going to happen with a Black man running for president? I’ll give you this comment from the Huffington post forums. Besides, I couldn’t break it down any better:

Let's see here...

We have supporters at McCain/Palin rallies voicing their racial hatred of Obama. McCain and Palin do little to control this. They even deny it.

Then, we have Limbaugh saying that blacks have being training their children for 30 years to be militant so they can take over the country.

Then, we have a guy at a McCain/Palin rally carrying a stuffed monkey with an Obama sticker on it.

Next, we have a Republican woman in California who prints up "Obama Bucks" with Obama's head on a donkey's body with watermelon, fried chicken, and ribs on the backdrop of a food stamp.

And last, but not least, we have a guy in Ohio with an effigy of Obama hanging from a tree in his front yard. The guy is supporting McCain/Palin because this country should not be run by a black man.

And yet, Colin Powell is supposed to be a good "boy" and go along for the ride? Hello! Colin Powell is black, too! And yet, the Republicans expect him to just sit there and take these insults.

They attacked a man with life-long loyalty to the Republican Party long before he came out and endorsed Obama. And gee, if McCain had just stuck to the issues and not gone this route, maybe Powell would have still endorsed him. So, you shouldn't be surprised, Buchanan and Limbaugh. You can't have it both ways.

Madinirose Posted 09:58 AM on 10/20/2008 at The Huffington Post.com

Okay, let’s forget that General Powell took almost eight minutes to explain exactly why he was endorsing Obama. And he explained it very well. Besides the scathing note for note condemnation of the Rethuglican party for NOT getting the job done this past eight years, General Powell was just as crystal clear in his criticism of John Insane’s attacking Barack Obama as a Terrorist. Explaining that the people don’t want to hear that bullshit right now while they lose their pensions, homes, jobs, life savings, and their friggin minds! Nope don’t want to hear that shit right now.

Here we have General Colin Powell:

Colin Luther Powell (born April 5, 1937[citation needed]) is a retired General in the United States Army. He was the 65th United States Secretary of State (2001–2005), serving under President George W. Bush. As a General in the United States Army, Powell also served as National Security Advisor (1987–1989) and as Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff (1989–1993), holding the latter position during the Gulf War. He was the first and, so far, the only Jamaican American to serve on the Joint Chiefs of Staff or in the Cabinet.
Powell obtained an MBA from George Washington University in 1971 and then served a White House fellowship under President Richard Nixon. (Wikipedia)

Well if you didn’t catch the interview on Meet the Press, check the video when you get a chance. General Powell is very clear in his reasons for endorsing Barack Obama.

And if that isn’t enough let us not forget that:

BEFORE the endorsement Barack Obama drew 100, 000 people to the Arch in St Louis.

BEFORE the endorsement Obama raised $150 million in one month.

BEFORE the endorsement people of all backgrounds in this country were backing Obama for CHANGE.

And let’s give a big shout out to General Powell for explaining the damage being done not only in our own country but around the world by the discrimination of those folks of Islamic faith that work and die for the privilege of living in this country. Bravo General Powell!!!!!

PEACE!

Daddy.

“License to Twang”

10-17-08

I’ve known Jinx since 1976. He was this skinny white guy with a guitar case that may have bigger than he was. But believe me, that had no effect on his guitar playing.

James brown was his influence at that time, and Jinx could tell you every little nuance in any Brown record. This is what brought him to Distinctive Movement. A band known at the time for deep down funk original tunes.

We had a gig for a year and a half playing at a little club called Smitty’s Playroom and Lounge. We must have backed up every blues singer on the Chittlin Circuit. But between the blues dates was a chance to debut the original material that worked so well for us, allowing the band to do a lot of opening act work, and tour the country.

The following are from press releases on Jinx Jones, but I just wanted to put in my two cents before you read on.

Jinx Jones is a helluva musician. I don’t believe there is any one kind of music he can’t do. My wife and I visited Jinx this year out in San Francisco where we found him on a Jazz gig, and playing the hell out of it.

If you ever get the chance to catch one of his shows, make the gig. If you can get off on truly good music, check him out. And for those of you that think you don’t like swing, well don’t be fooled. This man can give you quite the education on every music move there is.

We love ya Jinx!

PEACE!

Daddy.

Jinx Jones honed his musical skills on the burgeoning Denver original music scene of the 1970’s and 1980’s. With brief stints in both Los Angeles and Houston, Jones’ studied music in concert halls, nightclubs, and theaters throughout the United States.

During the summer of 1976 Jinx was a member of the Denver Colorado R&B group Distinctive Movement who performed concert dates with Natalie Cole. Later that summer they also backed soul-singer Howard Bomar in opening slots for Johnny Taylor, Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes, the Dells, the Sylvers, and Hot Chocolate.

Jinx has led his own bands with significant success in both Colorado and California. His first showcase band was Jinx Jones and the Jaguars, who in the early 1980’s had several records on regular rotation airplay in the Denver market. The band relocated to Los Angeles where they were immediately noticed by the musical press.

Jinx joined the popular doo-wop show band, Tom Slick in 1978 and toured the United States extensively throughout that year. During this time, he was part of a musical group that backed many touring shows that appeared at AstroWorld in Houston, Texas. It was during this time that Jinx first appeared with Rock n’ Roll legend Chuck Berry. Jinx performed with Berry off and on from 1979 through 1988, playing in one of Berry’s many regional touring bands.

Another dimension of Jinx Jones’ music is his impressive songwriting. Winning several songwriters’ awards, Jones’ continues to write songs that explore unknown territory, while telling a story that can reach out and touch every listener.

Jinx added guitar tracks to the R&B album “In Search of the Last Trump of Funk” by the Nation Funktasia. During 1991 and 1992 Jinx played with R&B superstars En Vogue on their triple platinum album “Funky Divas,” and played both guitar and bass on their signature hit “Free Your Mind.” Other sessions with En Vogue followed, but Jinx Jones was then moving into another musical direction, and his days as a sideman for hire were quickly taking a back seat to his pursuit of a solo career.

In 2000, Jinx Jones released his solo rockabilly CD, “License to Twang” which received stellar reviews form national magazines such as Guitar Player, Vintage Guitar, and Blue Suede News. His current rockabilly band the KingTones have appeared on National Public Radio and are a popular attraction in the California market.
